The huge variety of documents were found on an old rubbish tip at Oxyrhynchos.

As someone who finds the social life of the biblical world(s) fascinating, I would wholeheartedly agree with this recommendation.

For anyone wanting to know more about life in antiquity, the Oxyrhynchus papyri provide a unique glimpse at everyday life (and squabbles). It really is a treasure trove.
Oxford University provide two websites (one slightly more specialist) for anyone who would like to know more or access some of the papyri.
