Norman Cohn has just died and reading his obituary I discovered that he had written this book, the subtitle of which is "The Ancient Roots of Apocalyptic Faith". It is important to get the second edition published in 2001 since the key Chapter 13 entitled "Jews, Zoroastrians and Christians" has been considerably enlarged since the first edition in 1993. A humourous comment on Norman Cohn, is that he was the historian who reached places other historians could not reach.
