This book by S. G. F. Brandon employs redaction criticism to point up the considerable differences between the Nazarenes under James the brother of Jesus and the apostle Paul. His thesis is that Jesus and his followers remained within Judaism and had it not been for the fall of Jerusalem Pauline Christianity would not have triumphed. Hyam Jaccoby relies quite strongly on Brandon in his work " Paul the Mythmaker" and the main thrust of both books is the same. I'm now going on to read "Paul the founder of Christianity" by Gerd Ludemann.
